Computer won't restart after Malwarebytes scan

My Dad was using Malwarebytes (free version) to scan his computer every evening. He then changed to a trial of Malwarebytes Premium, some time after starting the trail, he was doing his regular evening scan when something came up on the screen and he quickly clicked "agree".

The screen went black and the computer has not restarted properly since. He just sees the blue spinning circle and a cursor arrow. He is running Windows 7.32 (7.3.2?)

Is anyone able to suggest a way he could fix this problem?

He could try starting the system in Safe Mode as described here to see if that allows the system to start up, then hopefully the system can be worked on to repair the issue.  If that works, I'd suggest posting in our malware removal area to work with one of our specialists in troubleshooting the issue.  To do so, please follow the instructions in this topic then create a new topic in our malware removal area by clicking here and a malware removal specialist will provide guidance in checking and cleaning the system of any threats and hopefully getting it back up and running normally again.
