My friend's game (Prototype-N) is getting flagged as a false positive

Recommended Posts

My friend, who just released a new demo of her own game, had been getting many issues with antiviruses getting false positives on it for a while now, and while it WAS discovered it was due to an odd compiling behaviour in the most recent version of the engine the game was being made in (and was thought to be resolved once she downgraded the version to be before that behaviour was there, starting today, Malwarebytes has been falsely flagging ALL builds of the game despite the thing that was triggering false flags on other antiviruses no longer being there!

Here's the zip with the Malwarebytes report, as well as the game's exe file (the file that was getting a false flag). Due to how the game is structured, the standalone exe like this isn't playable or anything, but it should be enough to get this fixed up?

Thanks for reporting, this was a Machine Learning detection and will assist in fine tuning the engine.

For builds in development, from https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/238670-machinelearninganomalous-detections-and-explanation/:

Also, If you are a developer, while building your application,  I suggest you exclude the working/building directory from detection via the exclusion settings in Malwarebytes. This since our Anomaly detection might possibly detect some of the files you are building.
Once the application/project is final and ready to be shared with others, in most cases it won't be detected anymore since it won't be triggered as "anomalous" anymore either.

In case a "final project" is still detected, please let us know (include the sample), so we can add it to our database of known good apps as well to prevent this in the future.

I've whitelisted the file you provided. If anymore releases are detected, please provide the new detected file and we can work on another way to resolve this.

Yeah, so it turns out the build I had and tested was NOT the current build, so while the version of the game I had IS in fact no longer falsely flagged, the current build that is available online is still falsely flagged, so I've included the ACTUAL current build of her game here with another report. Sorry about the mistake, I really hope it can all be resolved (all these false-positive issues are extremely stressful for her to deal with)

Also, just for reference, if later builds get falsely flagged, should new topics on here be made, or should I just reply to this topic with a new post?

Alright, thank you for helping resolve this problem! Sure enough, Malwarebytes is no longer getting a false-positive on the game for certain. I wonder how it even happened, as I know at LEAST as late as 11:30pm of last night, it wasn't getting any false positives on the game...

If issues arise with later builds of the game, I'll be sure to post here again! (Also I assume "reference this post" just means linking to it or just mentioning that it was a problem here before?)
