Recently my desktop started to not wake up from sleep mode correctly.  Fans would spin but my monitor is not receiving a signal.  I checked my event viewer and found this.

How can I correct this corrupt file?  Would a simple uninstall and reinstall fix it?

A corruption was discovered in the file system structure on volume C:.

The Master File Table (MFT) contains a corrupted file record.  The file reference number is 0x2d2000000001596.  The name of the file is "\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\LOGS\mbae-protector.xpe".

Can you please collect and upload as an attachment the diagnostic data using our MBST?

  • Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
  • Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

@Casepb Now that we have a before set of logs. Use the support tool and do the clean install.

  1. In the left navigation pane of the Malwarebytes Support Tool, click Advanced.
  2. In the Advanced Options, click Clean.2020-09-05_23h51_49.png.9e60daad3e99b960792616a82ae0ea92.png
  3. In the Malwarebytes Cleanup pop-up window, click Yes. A pop-up window indicating the loading of the cleanup appears. Before the next step, make sure all your work is saved in the background.
  4. In the Malwarebytes Cleanup pop-up window, click OK to restart your computer.
  5. Once your computer restarts, in the User access control pop-up window, click Yes. A pop-up window appears indicating a Post reboot cleanup.
  6. In the Reinstall Malwarebytes for Windows pop-up window, click Yes if you want to reinstall the Malwarebytes app.
  7. If you choose to reinstall Malwarebytes, click one of the following choices when asked Where are you installing Malwarebytes?
    • Personal Computer
    • Work Computer
  8. Click Install. A window with a loading bar of the installation appears. After the installation, the Malwarebytes app opens.

You have successfully uninstalled and reinstalled Malwarebytes for Windows. You can safely close the Malwarebytes Support Tool.
