Malware still on computer after factory reset and multiple scans.

Recommended Posts

Hey, so followed a very dodgy link a couple of days ago, and been trying to get some persistent spyware off my laptop ever since. After running Malwarebytes, it seemed to find everything, but my cpu hadwas running at 100% up until I opened task manager, then dropping down in a second. I managed to find one piece that had gotten through just by following the file of an unknown process, and decided to factory reset, then ran antivirus again.

It didn't find anything again, so I'm wondering what I should do in this scenario?

Hello      :welcome:

To your mentions about Task Manager, you need to totally not pay attention to the percentage  for like at least one minute.   The very initial display is NOT the real deal.  You need to let the app settle down.

The CPU usage can fluctuate depending on all sorts of conditions.  It  ( high cpu usage  at some moment in time) does not mean that there is some kind of "infection".

You should review this topic and see if it applies to your system as well.   It takes a while for Task Manager to compute tasks & then refresh the display..
