PUP.Option.WinYahoo in every scan

Recommended Posts

Recently, my brand new laptop completely slowed down and the only thing malwarebytes detected was pup.optional.winyahoo. No matter how many times I quarantined it, my computer was still too slow and I couldn't do anything on it. So, I had to reset it completely. My laptop went back to a functioning speed, but because I was worried the issue would happen again, I bought a membership with Malwarebytes. Now, every single scan scans pup.optional.winyahoo. At one point, I had like 90 of them quarantined. It scans about 9-10 every single scan. Yes, malwarebytes is completely updated. I've run adwcleaner too, and it found nothing but preinstalled programs.

I'm not sure where it's coming from since I use the same websites and games I always have. Any help is appreciated!!

It sounds as though the browser sync feature in your web browser may be reinstalling the PUPs which explains why it keeps coming back even after a format.  Please see if the instructions in this topic are helpful and let us know.

Thanks

I just tried this, I will wait until the next scan to update you on if this works. Thank you!

You're welcome, and good luck, I hope that it worked, but even if it did not we will still be able to help.

I tried this on my main laptop and my other one which I stopped using regularly. I'm unfortunately still scanning about 9-11 pups each scan.
