bitcoin miner (serviced.tdi) keeps returning after 5 minutes of being idle

Recommended Posts

After scouring the internet about this particular bitcoin miner I came up empty as to what to do with this thing.

The virus (serviced.tdi) only activates after approximately 5 minutes of no mouse movement, but when you move your mouse it deactivates completely, leading me to think that my GPU is busted or something. But after scanning with MBAR and later with Malwarebytes I finally found the culprit.

The thing is, even after being quarantined, the bastard keeps coming back. As I type this Malwarebytes already detected and quarantined 4 of the same file, in the same folder destination.

I have fortunately removed the virus by myself via HitmanPro. Turns out a hidden xmrig-cuda.dll was among the Unity3d folder the infected file was in.

An alternative to HitmanPro would be AdwCleaner. I highly advise you if you have had the same problem as I did, to use either of those applications to gut out the virus or it will continue to reproduce itself. Much like a real virus.
