Today marks the anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, one of the most amazing human endeavors in history.  Not only was it an amazing feat, but it also involved two of the most famous feet: those of astronaut, Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the surface of La Luna and declare: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." and his footprints remain there to this day.  They should persist as long as no meteors damage the area and no future visitors disturb the site.

You can read an article all about it below:

Incidentally, today is also National Lollipop Day, so you could go get yourself a rocket shaped lollipop which you consume while watching a film such as Apollo 13 or while visiting your local planetarium and have the best of both worlds!

I'm personally going to watch Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla, only because I want remind myself that no matter what, NASA is always watching over us to protect the inhabitants of Earth from the attacks of giant space monsters (a very serious problem ever since the now infamous invasion by Monster Zero back when he first battled Godzilla, who was thankfully able to repel the attack).

I just hope the aliens don't conquer us before we get to find out if there is life on any of Jupiter's and Saturn's moons.  Of course, if aliens did conquer us I suppose continuing the search for possible microbial life becomes less significant.

Happy Moon Day!

I thought for a moment that this was going to be another of those stunt-days where we all had to hang out posteriors out of a window to support some obscure cause. moony.gif.b11c0e4ea2bf716cc52e74d79103941b.gif
