Thanks @Phlarx and all - we have enough data for review by our developers at this point. We appreciate you letting us know you're experiencing the same issue. I also want to acknowledge that an exclusion is a workaround, not a solution.
We don't currently have a time frame for a resolution to the issue but it is under investigation.

The first time this happened, I put in an exclusion for the file.  Then my kid moved the minecraft installation to a different drive to free up space and so it happened again and I had to put in another exclusion and I'm tired.  My huge, modded minecraft world takes minutes to load and then suddenly, poof crash.  Not cool. :) lol
