I am having this same problem on my wifes Dell PC, before the Windows 10 update (2004) everything worked fine with MalwareBytes and the PC, but after I did the update the PC was unusable and I had to uninstall the 2004 update. Has Malware bytes addressed this problem (I don't know who's problem it is MS or Malwarebytes) but I would sure like to upgrade my wife's PC and know I am not going to run into the same problem again.

A new program version along with a new Component package for Malwarebytes for Windows was just announced on June 30th 2020.

If you would to post some readout-reports from the pc-at-issue  I'll be glad to review.

It is very hard to know exactly what the mix of things is / was on that machine without reports.

That having been mentioned,  I am confident that this latest release would do well for your machine (s).

With this update, on my four Windows 10 systems, Malwarebytes still interferes with IPv6 Internet traffic, forcing me to disable Web Protection. This issue has persisted for several months.

On the good news front, Ransomware Protection with Windows 2004 update seems OK now.

The situation as to PING with IPv6  is still present.   That is known & on-going.   Though as you likely know, if needed you can specify ping with ipV4

And yes,  the ransomware protection is working, as is by the way, the web protection.

I have all real-time protections on .   and I have not seen any issue after going into sleep mode.  Nor after doing 2 manual on-demand scans.

and no occasion of Chrome going astray with the "resolving host".

Matter of fact I currently have 3 browsers open with multiple tabs.

I'm glad that things are working for you. By the way, the problem is not just with IPv6 ping, it's with IPv6 traffic in general.

Are you a representative for the company? Your tone implies that the problem is with me.

I have not intention of any sort to point to you or anyone.

I am not a representative.   I am a volunteer, doing this on my time.

The only reason I posted was on the hopes that other people would be helped along.   and more specifically, the Original Poster Dbarjim

I regret that you have encountered issues.  as to the PING, I understand that turning off the web protection helps out.

 

If I may, I would suggest that you open a Support ticket with Malwarebytes Support  ( if you do not already have one).

I understand that you apparently are unhappy  & perhaps likely frustrated.   But let's keep this on a even keel basis.

These misunderstandings about our employment come up from time to time. Because both Maurice and myself have been around a long time and have user titles that makes users think we are employees and we have high post counts. We enjoy assisting as volunteers.

The IPv6 traffic issue is still under investigation as far as I know. And has been plaguing some users for a while.

Once installed, you will need to disable the two update options found in Settings -> General -> Application updates to prevent the product from updating back to the affected version.

I suggest using the following clean install guide.

Please do the following Uninstall and reinstall using the Malwarebytes Support Tool

Please have lots of patience with the tool.  The first phase is a cleanup and does require a Windows Restart.
After the Restart, it may take 2 - 3 - 4 minutes till the Support tool screen shows up.   Please be patient and have faith.  Wait for it, whatever it takes.
The 2nd phase is where it offers to do a new Install. Say no and use the download from my above link and install the old version and disable the update before you do anything else.

 Let me know if that clears up the issue or not.

I updated Malwarebytes Premium today to the new version, and unfortunately Malwarebytes still does not work with Windows 10, version 2004.

After my laptop (Microsoft Surface Book 1) goes to sleep, Malwarebytes still blocks all my browsers (Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox) from opening, as well as apps on my desktop.

Malwarebytes even blocks the power button on the start menu from working;.

To get back to a working PC after my laptop goes to sleep, I need to force a shutdown by pressing on the physical power button for about 20 seconds.

If I am able to open Task Manager - it shows "System Interrupts" as high as 100% for the CPU.

Please try harder to fix this.

I suggest turning off fast startup in Windows. Then restart.

Sorry to report that the original problems with Ransomware Protection and Update 2004 have returned. I understood Maurice's post above to mean that the latest update resolves this problem. Is that correct? Or is a solution still in process?

Is that it might solve it for some users but not all. We go back on old posts and announce there is a new version to TRY.

So again for now turn off the affected  protection module again  or revert to an older version is the only answer for now.

I know how frustrating this is.

We are still reviewing issues with Widows 10 build 2004 and IPv6 issues.

The cause for me (and I asume probably many others) in regards to Windows 10 2004 - ie the problem with browsers and apps not waking up after sleep - is Malwarebytes.

 

In my case at least, there is no question about that.

 

After uninstalling Malwarebytes (I had the Premium version) - everything works normally in Windows 10 version 2004. No more sleep issues.

 

I was sent a private message from a malwarebyte tech (on the malewarebytes forum) to install a "private" version of malwarebytes, but NOT to pass the link on to anyone else.

 

I have not yet tried this private' version - a bit scared to do so.

 

Waiting for a reply from the tech as to how this "private version" is different from the public versions; and why the request I should not forward the link to others.

 

Is it because it can cause damage to my Surface Book (and in addition other PC's)?

 

I will wait and see how malwarebytes respond.

 

But now I think it is not a windows 10 problem, but a Malwarebytes problem (and perhaps other antirvirus solutions as well).

 

Maybe with Windows 10 improved security, better not to have Malwarebytes installed to mess with Windows 10.
