Windows 2004 problems

Recommended Posts

I have been seeing the same problem as

I refreshed Windows and spent yesterday reinstalling my stuff. When I installed Malwarebytes (from the website) I started seeing the problems again. This morning I turned off the early protection options and installed the beta version. Malwarebytes is currently set to NOT start at Windows startup. When I do start it after Windows is up I get the unresponsive behavior again for a few minutes. After that it seems ok.  Not confident enough yet to enable it for Windows startup. I am happy to work with you if you need additional info.

Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

<comments >   Report please from the support tool   as noted above ^^^

To be real clear, Hardcopy1  is now on the current MB Beta and is doing fine .

Good to hear. I was having problems attaching my file and then getting a popup from the site that my reply appeared to be spam. Followed the link to the support page and created a ticket there.

Hi.   I understand that you created a Support Ticket.   Do have lots of patience.  The first reply is a automated one.  It will likely be a few working days from now till you get a reply from a support person.  They answer by the order of oldest ticket first.

I do not understand why you would have any issue in making a attachment here in this topic.

  • To send attachments please click the link as shown below. Then browse to where your file is located and select it and click the Open button.

That's cool.  Salutes to you.

I would remark that you keep faith & courage.  Not be unduly obssessed  ( if that is the term)    (over-concerned is more like it )  about Windows build 2004.

If I have 2 suggestions, which I do, I would say

Be sure that Windows Fast Startup is NOT on

Fast Starup needs to be OFF

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-turn-off-fast-startup-windows-10-a.html

That you do a daily RESTART of Windows.   Dont just always only use 'sleep mode'

Get on the MB 4  Beta  just like Hardcopy 1  did   & keep the MB4  program updated.

IF and only IF there is a major jam  .... then you can selectively turn off web protection  and or ransomware protection  as a test.

Just have no fear.  Take advantage of expert guided help here.

Thanks for the reminder about fast startup. I had turned it off, but with the Windows refresh it got back on. Off now.

I am on the beta now and thanks for the suggestion of turning off Web and/or Ransomware.

As for 2004, I have another machine with 2004 that seems to be running ok so not as concerned about 2004 as I originally was. Malwarebytes is there but only the free version.

ok.  If the pc has the free version,  there ought to be no issue of any sort, since the free does not have real-time protections.

If on the other hand it is in the Trial mode, that expires after 14 days elapse.

Yup, I am ahead of you with that. :)
