WinOptimizer 18 of Ashampoo GmbH&Co. is removed by Malwarebytes as a PUP.

Recommended Posts

Why Application WinOptimizer version 18.00.15 http://www.Ashampoo.com on my Windows 10 PC is removed by Malwarebytes as a PUP. I have full confidence in this application which has been used for 10 years and so far no version of WinOptimizer has been questioned by Malwarebytes until now.

To exclude these items you need to perform a scan (a Threat scan or Hyper scan should do) and then at the end when it shows the list of detection's, uncheck any item that you do not want removed and click Next.  When prompted on what to do with the remaining unchecked items, select Ignore Always and they will be added to your exclusions and will no longer be detected by future scans.

Whether or not you like the program, the reality is that programs by ashampoo tend to fall under PUP for various legitimate reasons (not the least of which is that these programs are completely unnecessary in the first place; you already have the tools you need in windows by default).

You can add Ashampoo programs to your exclusion lists if you do not want them flagged. But it doesn't change the fact that it is a PUP by nature

Thank you for the explanation is helpful, however WinOptimizer Ashampoo cleans unnecessary files from the registry, effectively deletes search histories and frees up disk space

This is the part that can potentially damage the Windows OS and installed software and also flagged as a PUP.
