Hornsj2 Posted April 20, 2020 ID:1374789 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Is this based on OpenVPN? I am interested in possibly switching from my current provider, but I want to configure this at my router level, and not just have it as a desktop app. Link to post
exile360 Posted April 20, 2020 ID:1374821 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Greetings, I'm not certain which VPN service/provider Malwarebytes is currently using for Malwarebytes Privacy, however I do know that they previously had some sort of partnership with Mullvad VPN, though that was just for a bundled discount deal so I have no idea if that is the provider they are using for Malwarebytes Privacy or not and I must defer to a member of the staff for a definitive response. nikhils Posted April 20, 2020 ID:1374824 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Hello @Hornsj2 Malwarebytes Privacy is based on WireGuard and not OpenVPN. Currently we have no way to configure MBPrivacy at the router level. Might be available sometime in the future. Hope that helps. Link to post
Hornsj2 Posted April 20, 2020 Author ID:1374830 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Thank you for the quick response. I will take a look at WireGuard and see if it's worth it to stop using my current provider. I trust MB more than them, but It's really convenient to have my smart devices and phone on my vpn with no effort or installation. Have a good one. Link to post
nikhils Posted April 20, 2020 ID:1374834 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Thank you @Hornsj2 Do let us know if you have any more questions. Link to post
Staff gatortail Posted April 20, 2020 Staff ID:1374862 Share Posted April 20, 2020 @Hornsj2 We plan to add support for Mac & Mobile later this year. Link to post
Hornsj2 Posted April 20, 2020 Author ID:1374895 Share Posted April 20, 2020 @gatortail Thank you. I was referring to the advantage of being able to configure my router. While at home I don't need to have an application on any device. Anything on my internal network will automatically be on the VPN. s Link to post
digmorcrusher Posted April 20, 2020 ID:1374897 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Many VPN's have a free trail so potential users can check for issues such as slowing down of internet speeds. Is there a free trail for MB Privacy, if not how come? Thanks. Link to post
exile360 Posted April 20, 2020 ID:1374900 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Unfortunately it appears that they currently offer no free trial for Malwarebytes Privacy, but hopefully they will offer one in the future. Link to post
Staff gatortail Posted April 20, 2020 Staff ID:1374901 Share Posted April 20, 2020 (edited) We are evaluating a formal free trial, but Malwarebytes actually provides a better deal than most free trials on it's products: 60-Day Money Back Guarantee: if you aren’t fully satisfied with your Malwarebytes software you may request cancellation and refund within 60 days of this purchase and we’ll cancel your subscription and refund 100% of your purchase price. digmorcrusher Posted April 20, 2020 ID:1374955 Share Posted April 20, 2020 True, but a lot of people are hesitant to shell out the bucks if they are not 100% confident that said product will work well on their computer, MB Privacy is not cheap. Link to post
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted April 20, 2020 Root Admin ID:1374956 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Yes, I'm with you @digmorcrusher I too would prefer a no strings attached trial, demo even if it was only good for a couple of days. I've downloaded and tried so many applications in my career and many of them I've gone on to buy either for personal use or for business use. Though I would say that it is getting more difficult to get a free no strings attached trail today than it was years ago for some reason. I will say though that on my system it is the fastest VPN I've ever used. Hopefully in the future there will be a free trial for users to test drive the product. Link to post
nikhils Posted April 21, 2020 ID:1375086 Share Posted April 21, 2020 Thank you for your feedback @digmorcrusher and @AdvancedSetup Link to post

Hey, dear friends, now I am running one of top competitor VPNs paid by end of the year; I am eager to switch to your product, but please understand no one wants to throuw quite a buck for buying a cat in a sack... Please provide either trial or 1 month sunscription with a few days refund deadline... Link to post
exile360 Posted April 23, 2020 ID:1375787 Share Posted April 23, 2020 Unfortunately they currently only offer 1 year subscriptions, not monthly, but perhaps they will consider it. Link to post
digmorcrusher Posted April 23, 2020 ID:1375800 Share Posted April 23, 2020 (edited) Hope so, especially now that the only price I can find for Canadians is a 5 device license for $129.99, well that ain't gonna happen especially when I would only need for 1 device. This is for MB 4 and MB Privacy, can't find a standalone license for Privacy. Edited April 24, 2020 by digmorcrusher Link to post
leo3487 Posted April 25, 2020 ID:1376321 Share Posted April 25, 2020 me too, from argentina, only price is 5 devices $ 5.958,37 ARS that is too expensive Link to post
nikhils Posted April 27, 2020 ID:1376662 Share Posted April 27, 2020 Thank you all for the feedback. We are planning to have the trial for the VPN product in a future release. Link to post

nikhils Posted April 27, 2020 ID:1376668 Share Posted April 27, 2020 Sure thing @Sanjuro Usually we post the new feature going to every new release as a forum post. But will update this thread too in the future. Link to post
nikhils Posted April 29, 2020 ID:1377401 Share Posted April 29, 2020 (edited) Hello @digmorcrusher We do have just the MBPrivacy available as a standalone product. Please check the following link: http://www.malwarebytes.com/vpn Let us know if you have more questions. Thank you. Edited April 29, 2020 by nikhils Link to post
digmorcrusher Posted April 29, 2020 ID:1377436 Share Posted April 29, 2020 (edited) Yes, I eventually found it, but it wasn't on the Privacy page, when you click on Buy Now there it just shows the combo price, you have to go to the MB page and click on pricing, here it shows the prices for both MB and MB Privacy. exile360 Posted April 30, 2020 ID:1377483 Share Posted April 30, 2020 I just visited the Malwarebytes Privacy page located here (which I accessed by selecting Malwarebytes Privacy from the For Home menu item at the top) and then clicked the orange BUY NOW button at the top of the page it scrolled down to a section showing pricing for both the combined/bundled version as well as the standalone. I then reloaded the page and got the same result you reported with the BUY NOW button taking me directly to the purchase page with the only item showing up in the cart being the combo/bundle for 5 devices for 1 or 2 years. It looks like they are testing different layouts on the website. Link to post
