MBAM System Tray Window Error

Recommended Posts

image.png.4e5e7220360c8b7f97e1e17394e1e187.png

It's blank.

Generally for me... no big deal.  I remember which blank space requests updates..

I'll wait for updates until it gets fixed.

Just wanted to notify the MBAM team.

It may also be worth a try to disable hardware acceleration in Malwarebytes to see if that makes any difference as often times blank UI elements are the result of the new hardware acceleration feature not getting along with the systems graphics card/driver.  To test, open Malwarebytes and go to settings by clicking the gear icon in the upper right, then select the Display tab and scroll to the bottom and disable hardware acceleration, then test the tray and if it still displays blank, try restarting the system to see if it is now fixed.

Uh oh.... things got worse.

I tried what you stated exile360.... closed Malwarebytes, went to reopen it... and got this.

Tried to 'Run as Administrator' and got the same error.

I guess I now uninstall and then reinstall?

Please do the following Uninstall and reinstall using the Malwarebytes Support Tool

Please have lots of patience with the tool.  The first phase is a cleanup and does require a Windows Restart.
After the Restart, it may take 2 - 3 - 4 minutes till the Support tool screen shows up.   Please be patient and have faith.  Wait for it, whatever it takes.
The 2nd phase is where it offers to do a new Install.

Let me know if that clears up the issue or not.

Ok, thanks Porthos.

👍

If it does not work we need the logs I mentioned in post #3.

Ok, went through the steps of the repair tool.

Everything is fixed and working.

I've attached the logs as requested.

It would be good to know why this occurred.

Just a guess.... I'm thinking Cylance messed with Malwarebytes in some way.  But I have no indicator for that.   Just a hunch.

Comment on the repair tool.  Very small thing... but...  as the "Postreboot cleanup, please wait" thing went on and on and on...

It stated "'please wait."

So I did not click "Yes" on the 'Do you want to reinstall' pop up thinking it might disrupt the Postreboot cleanup.

The guidance could be a little more clear that we can click the 'reinstall pop up' without subverting the cleanup process.  (see image)

And thank you.

Thank you for the update and feedback.

With fresh installations, hardware acceleration is now disabled by default in Malwarebytes. It's likely it was enabled prior to the clean reinstallation and as noted above, may have been a contributing factor. You could test by re-enabling hardware acceleration in the Settings, then use the 'Quit Malwarebytes' option and relaunch the program.
