Unauthorized Remote Access(Router/PC/Phones/everything?) :\

Recommended Posts

I don't really know where to begin, other than I suspect someone private or otherwise is remotely accessing my home's 2in1 Comcast Technicolor CGM4140COM Modem/Router, as well as my laptop, and phone for a while now. I notice small things here and there, but as of late I no longer have Admin rights on my pc, strange things have been happening with both of my Xbox One S setups(I sound crazy I know that.. people have told me) redirects in my browsers, both pc and phone. It's just a lot and I'm not technically savvy enough to coherently explain it to you. I have attached the Malwarebytes Threat Scan Log, as well as the FRST logs Addition and FRST. I hope this will shed any kind of light as to what is going on with my home network.. and I hope I'm just crazy or paranoid but members of my family are beginning to believe me as they've seen things themselves. Apologies I know this must not make any sense, any guidance/direction/etc would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello @Lost_Prophet144

Let's go ahead then and start by doing a factory reset on your router.

Please review the following website and read it before continuing and then do a Hard Reset back to Factory Defaults for your router.
This information is only for resetting the router DO NOT erase, install, or update the firmware, just reset your router to factory defaults.

WARNING!! Make sure you read all instructions before performing any procedures.

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Reset_And_Reboot

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hard_reset_or_30/30/30

I probably will not be back until Tuesday morning as Monday is a holiday but if possible I'll try to check back on you again during the weekend.

Once you've done the factory reset on the router and set a strong password on it then do the following again after first restarting your computer.

Please run the following steps and post back the logs as an attachment when ready.

STEP 01

  • If you're already running Malwarebytes then open Malwarebytes and check for updates. Then click on the Scan tab and select Threat Scan and click on Start Scan button.
  • If you don't have Malwarebytes installed yet please download it from here and install it.
  • Once installed then open Malwarebytes and select Scan and let it run.
  • Once the scan is completed click on the View Report button, then the Export button and save the file as a Text file to your desktop or other location you can find and attach that log on your next reply.
  • If Malwarebytes won't run then please skip to the next step and let me know in your next reply.

STEP 02

Please download AdwCleaner by Malwarebytes and save the file to your Desktop.

  • Right-click on the program and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  • Accept the Terms of use.
  • Wait until the database is updated.
  • Click Scan Now.
  • When finished, please click Clean & Repair.
  • Your PC should reboot now if any items were found.
  • After reboot, a log file will be opened. Attach or Copy its content into your next reply.

RESTART THE COMPUTER Before running Step 3

STEP 03
Please download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). If you've, run the tool before you need to place a checkmark here.
  • Please attach the Additions.txt log to your reply as well.

Thanks
