Latest beta update causing slow Internet

Recommended Posts

The original reported issue should be fixed now. The latest beta has also a few other reported issues. Once some more testing has been completed I'm sure we'll push out a new program update. In the meantime if you are having any issues please make sure you have the latest updates.

I just updated, restarted my computer, and am now experiencing this issue despite being on this version. My internet is at a crawl.

I'm currently running the repair process after having to force close the uninstall attempt through the system settings. How long should this take? Also, I'm experiencing this issue as a premium user.

I will help you with it. Just restart the computer and when you're back here download and run FRST as shown below.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well.

Thank you

Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system.

Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please attach or post it to your next reply.

Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.

fixlist.txt

If anything does go wrong or it hangs for a long time you may need to do a System Restore. This fix should automatically create a new System Restore Point for you. Hopefully though nothing will go wrong.

Thanks

Once you've restarted it should run on it's own if it needs to. Otherwise if it's finished find the log it created and post that back please.

Oops, you're right. I thought the one it created was the one I downloaded that you provided and overlooked it.

Okay, to ensure that all files, folders, registry entries, etc. are removed you should be able to run the MBST tool now without issue.

Make sure any other security software or antivirus is fully disabled while running it.  Do Not reinstall the program just decline the installation prompt at the end.

It still may take a while to run but should not hang

Let me know if any issues.

So I declined there which of course doesn't install it. Sorry, I tend to hesitate about everything.

Where is the best place to follow for updates about the issue?

Thank you! Glad to have it back. 😄

Is there any way to track the progress made on the issue and future updates?

In most cases, once it's fixed it would probably be listed here first before an official release.

We don't have any automated tracking for such so you'd need to check back there probably every couple of weeks.

If you're not backing up your data and you're still using Google Chrome then you're just not serious about Privacy, Safety, and protecting your data. Malwarebytes is a fantastic program but you still need to back up your data and you still need to block scripts and Ads in your browser.
If you're still using Google Chrome I would highly suggest you consider using Firefox instead. For more advanced users you might consider installing NoScript as well (it does have a higher learning curve though)
