Free Malwarebytes 4 is blocking DNS queries

Recommended Posts

SPECIFICALLY: When using latest update of Google Chrome browser and Firefox browser:

'Resolving Host' is taking forever ....
especially with Windows 8.1,  (2 machine)
somewhat with Windows 10  (2 machines)
but NOT AT ALL with Windows 7!   (3 machines)

Control Panel -> System and Security  ->  Administrative Tools -> Services
      DISABLE MBAMService / Malwarebytes Service

This phenomenon has been affecting Win 10 for several weeks and now suddenly today (26JAN2020) a COMPLETE kill of Win 8.1browsing with latest "updates check."

The FREE version should not have any affect on a system since there are NO active protections.

Malwarebytes Browser Guard (Chrome extension)

"...It blocks malicious websites while filtering out annoying ads and other unwanted content."
" ... browser extension that can identify and block new fake tech support scams."

That sounds "active" to me ...

Whether in the browser or registered as Windows Service(MBAMService),  mbam.exe is constantly active in the background and when I deny it "privileged access" to "inspect" my TCPIP layer or similar,  mbam.exe pops a dialog complaining that it can't do its job since I am not granting it ADMINISTRATOR mode. That is defined as ACTIVE even in a FREE version.

I'm offering Malwarebytes Development access to the almost ideal TESTCASE situation in which Windows 7 is not affected at all.  Windows 10 (as so many others have reported) is terribly sluggish in retrieving HTTP GET requests for some time now ... and now since early Sunday morning Windows 8.1 apparently can not get any response to ARP/DNS queries.

Have a dev person contact me directly.

If no response, I'll simplely remove Malwarebytes from all seven machines since it is behaving a crippling malware fashion.

That is totally separate than the main Malwarebytes program and a different development team. I will have staff move this to the correct section and answer this post.
