Malwarebytes for Kaseya

Recommended Posts

We just installed the Malwarebytes module for Kaseya and was quite surprised it was just version  Surely this isn't as good as the current version that is out ? Hopefully this is the same program, just a different numbered release.  Because it sure looks like a very old version.  Also if so, why would Kaseya still be releasing such an old version of your product.

Hello @lippsman

Through our partnership with Kaseya, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is the correct and latest version available at the moment. This matches what we provide through our on-premise solution Malwarebytes Endpoint Security.

When @exile360 mentioned 1.9, he may have been thinking about our Malwarebytes Managed Client 1.9, which is a piece of our Malwarebytes Endpoint Security and Malwarebytes Management Console software.

Anti-Malware 1.80 still receives daily database updates which will still help against new threats.

That depends; if they have upgraded the underlying SDK in version 1.8 to the same one being used in Malwarebytes 4 then it doesn't matter, however if they have not then it may potentially have substantial limitations compared to Malwarebytes 4 with regards to the supported heuristics, detection logic and overall detection capabilities (older engines ignore threat detection signatures that they do not understand in order to prevent breaking older versions/engines with database updates and to guard against unpredictable behavior and potential FP's).  Of course that all depends on what changes have been made in the engine and how heavily the Malwarebytes Research team is leaning on using newer signature types vs the existing/legacy types for targeting contemporary threats.

Anyone have an update to this?

According to this https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039023033-Malwarebytes-Management-Console-On-Premises-Product-Lifecycle , the "On-premises" version is to be discontinued by August and older versions even earlier - if so, what does this mean for the Kaseya version (if it too is based on the on-premise version). - Will it be updated by then, or will it too stop being supported and therefore not worth using?

As far as I know, there are no plans to discontinue the MSP product used by Kaseya and other MSP partners of Malwarebytes; they are considered separate builds/products from the normal business products sold directly to customers by Malwarebytes, though a more knowledgeable member of the staff may correct me if I am wrong.
