does malwarebytes use any cloud protection?

Recommended Posts

How does Malwarebytes detect new zero day threats?  Does Malwarebytes have any cloud protection in any of the applications like the web protection? Does Malwarebytes upload suspicious webpages that users visit in order to protect other users?

Greetings,

Malwarebytes includes both traditional and advanced heuristics algorithms for detecting new/unknown 0-day threats as well as cloud analysis components built into the Malware Protection and new Artificial Intelligence engine.  Malwarebytes does not collect browsing data from users as this would be a violation of their privacy, however there is behavior based blocking built into the new Malwarebytes Browser Guard browser extension which is available for Chrome and other Chromium based browsers as well as Mozilla Firefox which enables it to block specific categories of sites even if the sites are new/unknown based on the behavior of the sites (things like tech support scam pages and phishing sites).  It also blocks many ads and trackers to protect privacy and speed up browsing and makes an excellent addition on top of the protection provided by Malwarebytes Premium.  The extension is free and you can find out more about it and download it here.

I hope that helps to answer your questions and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know.

Thanks

Yes, it adds protection in addition to the Web Protection in Malwarebytes Premium as it blocks things that cannot be blocked outside the browser (such as behaviorally blocking certain sites such as tech support scams etc.).

Yes, it should work with the Chromium based Edge browser and several users have been running Malwarebytes Browser Guard with the Edge Chromium beta.

Thank you very much exile for confirming about the plugins website behavioral blocking. I just tested the plugin and whats different is it detects websites based on reputation which the premium version does not do. considering this i have added the plugin to Microsoft edges new browser and i really like it!!!
