Chrome has this weird extention i think is slowing my computer down

Recommended Posts

OK here is the issue a few days ago i noticed this weird extention i had in google chrome it had different words and numbers all together ill just make one up to show you "48u5km543n3ht8ou3tnrtn84" it was weird and i used malwarebytes to remove it

i clicked manage extention to find it was >1 MB and had all controls so that was super creepy and something else that was extra creepy was that it was given a "colour" to make it blend in with the background of chrome so i couldent see it

i was poking around there and i found there was a way i could go into my file explorer to find where it was, i found it was in the extentions part of my C drive in google so i was like yay i can just delete this ***** and move on but nope i deleted it and deleted it from recycling bin then i went on with life

2 hours later

I am on my pc and i look to check since i feel kinda good about myself *ik its not alot but still lol* then i see something almost exactly the same but the name of it was completely different i was very confused and decided to delete it again and repeat process untill now i was like ***** it im going all out and went through over 50 videos deleting ALL my search history *which is alot* and downloading this Adwcleaner i did all that after it had gone

later today i found it back im so confused and so annoyed like i dont understand how it could be here and need some help this time i noticed it had some sort of end i copy pasted it before i deleted it to try finding something i couldent just checked if i still have it i do yay here it is

Hi,     :welcome:

Please follow my directions as we go along.  Please do not do any changes on your own without first checking with me.

If you will be away for more than 3 consecutive days,  do try to let me know ahead of time, as much as possible.

Please only just attach   all report files, etc  that I ask for as we go along.

I would appreciate  getting some key details from this machine in order to help you forward.
NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

Thank you.

This custom script is for  Crazeface   only.

Close and save any open work files before starting this procedure.  I am sending a  custom fix script to do some cleanups.

Please Close and save any open work files before you start this next step.  It may involve a Windows Restart at the end of it.

I am sending a   custom Fix script which is going to be used by the FRSTENGLISH tool. They will both work together as a pair.

Please RIGHT-click the (attached file named) FIXLIST and select SAVE AS and save it directly ( as is) to the Downloads  folder

The tool named FRSTENGLISH.exe   tool    is already on the Downloads folder.

Start the Windows Explorer and then, open the Downloads folder.

Double click FRSTENGLISH

to run the tool. If the tool warns you the version is outdated, please download and run the updated version.

IF Windows prompts you about running this, select YES to allow it to proceed.

IF you get a block message from Windows about this tool......

click line More info information on that screen

and click button Run anyway on next screen.

on the FRST window:
Click the Fix button just once, and wait.

PLEASE have lots and lots of patience when this starts. You will see a green progress bar start. Lots of patience. This run here should be fairly quick.
If you receive a message that a reboot is required, please make sure you allow it to restart normally.
The tool will complete its run after restart.
When finished, the tool will make a log ( Fixlog.txt) in the same location from where it was run.

Please attach the FIXLOG.txt with your next reply later, at your next opportunity

Do let me know about the situation with Chrome.

Thanks for the log-report.

Start Chrome.

Look on the upper top right and click on the 3 dots ( or dashes) menu icon of Chrome ( top bar).

Then click on More Tools > then click on EXTENSIONS.

Look for  the suspect Extension

then if you see on its right a blue color slider, click or slide it to the left so that it is dimmed to grey color ( turned off)

Then click on REMOVE with your mouse.

That ought to take care of it. Keep me advised.

Sorry to hear that.

Sounds to me that you should switch to the Brave browser   ( which can pick up your bookmarks & passwords for sites   from the old Chrome browser).

and then later on, stop using Chrome   ( uninstall Chrome later).

Here is the link to download Brave browser   ( which has several pluses, including a very good advertising blocker).

https://brave.com/

After installing Brave,  then get & install the Malwarebytes Browser Guard

Open this link in your BRAVE browser: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/malwarebytes/ihcjicgdanjaechkgeegckofjjedodee

Then proceed with the setup.

I am very glad to have helped.  Your remarks are enough.    😉

You should delete the FIXLIST.txt   I had you save.

You may delete the Fixlog.txt   and also delete any other files I had you download.

I do wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Maurice
