Significant Coumputer Slowdown after latest Malwarebytes Premium update!

Recommended Posts

First, I want to say that I have used Malwarebytes for years and have been happy with it.  Now let's move on ...

I have the premium version and am running Windows10.  After installing the latest update on 12/06, I noticed a significant slowdown occurring across the board with my computer.  I also run AVG and thought that it might be the issue.  The slowdown is so massive that attempting to execute an application could take several minutes just to launch.  After some troubleshooting, I uninstalled AVG and the problem continued.  Then I remembered Malwarebytes was updated on 12/06 and it was after that date that I was having the issue.  I uninstalled Malwarebytes and the issue is gone.  Until I see a fix of this issue, I will not be reinstalling Malwarebytes.

In case someone else is search the net looking for a solution, I wanted to post mine here.

I guess I spoke too soon.  It took about an hour or so, but the slowdown came back.  I have now uninstalled Malwarebytyes for the second time.  I have 2 subscriptions with them, one for 3 computers and another for 10 computers.  I hope they figure out what is going on and get it corrected.  Whatever it is, it occurred in the last update.

One note, the uninstall program never finished.  I ended up terminating the install and then running the clean tool to remove it.  I don't know if that will help you at all concerning troubleshooting, but there you go.

Okay, thank you for trying. We are investigating the root cause of this behavior. In the meantime let's go ahead and put you back on the 3.x version until this issue is resolved.

Please restart your computer. Do not use the MBST tool

After the restart open Malwarebytes and go to Settings, Account Details - and deactivate the program. Make sure you have the email or license number written down and saved.

Then go into Control Panel, Programs, Add/Remove and uninstall Malwarebytes 4 and reboot when asked.

Then you can download the installer for version 3.8.3 from this link
https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3-windows-legacy

Then install version 3.x and activate it.

Then review these articles on how to prevent version 4 from automatically requesting to install again for now.

I have decided to wait for a fix before re-installing an older version of Malwarebytes.  I noticed a significant slowdown on my work machine as well and have uninstalled it there as well and now my work machine is working much better.  I purchased copies for all of my employees - not happy I spent the money on this and now have to uninstall it.  In the work environment, slow computers are not an option - so uninstalling it until a fix is created it the best coarse of action for us.  We have AV software that does similar operations, so I'm not too concerned about not having it installed - however, please reply to this thread once a fix is created so I can get it going again.  Thank you.
