I am not a computer geek and am going crazy trying to access bookmarks and/or just use google to search, as bing has hijacked our computer. I am reading many different ways to possibly fix the issue but the I read that others have tried the suggestions to no avail.

Is there some kind soul out there who can please help or point me to a youtube video that is easy to follow and understand?

And what are our rights in this situation? Do we have recourse against Microsoft for not allowing us to use the search engine of our choice?????

Thanks all for your help and insight!

Cathy

Hello and welcome.
Is the issue only just on the Firefox browser ?   or is it on other web browser too?
Each web browser has provisions for you to set your own preference for the search engine choice.

For Firefox, take a look at

For help on bokkmarks on Firefox, see

It sounds as if all that has happened is that the OP's default browser has been changed to Edge.

If you're still having issue then please post the following logs as an attachment.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well.

Thank you
