Kaspersky 2019 update (j) compatibility

Recommended Posts

Last night Kaspersky Total Security updated to and also installed a new password manager. As soon as the installation was finished, when I tried to save an open Word 2016 document, Word froze and would not respond. The computer would not open Task Manager or shut down normally. I had to power it off. Upon restart, I uninstalled the new Password Manager and turned off Ransomware protection in Malwarebytes Premium 3.8.3 since I am guessing that this may be the same incompatibility problem reported on Malwarebytes Forums with KIS  I have been staying at Kaspersky 2019 to avoid the issues that have been reported here between the latest 2020 e version and Malwarebytes but that apparently no longer works.

I have used Kaspersky Total Security and Malwarebytes Premium, with exclusions set in both programs for many years without a problem until yesterday’s Kaspersky update to the (j) revision. I posted this same information on the Kaspersky Total Security Community web page a few minutes ago. With Malwarebytes Ransomware Protection turned off, I am not experiencing any problems today, but am just posting this so others will no about the potential new issue with Kasperksy 2019 compatibility. I will continue watching this Forum to see if the current efforts results in a fix for Kaspersky 2020/Malwarebytes compatibility, and if/when that happens I will upgrade Kaspersky to the 2020 version.

Unless or until Malwarebytes and Kaspersky reach an agreement on compatibility, I have learned to just go with Kaspersky.   I have several long term licenses available for malwarebytes and two of them are used on my daughters' apple computers.  The others simply will lie inactive.  I use windows though and I just don't think anything can beat Kaspersky for overall solid protection.  I still use Malwarebytes free to scan but it never finds anything because I assume Kaspersky lets nothing in. I would love to use Malwarebytes as secondary protection, but if they are not compatible they are not compatible, so that is the way it goes I guess.

I have the same problem here. I use MBAM together with Kaspersky Internet Security, and after upgrading KIS to version 2020 the system started to have instabilities, only returned to normal after I uninstalled MBAM. I spent three days using just KIS and the computer worked normal, but it was just installing MBAM again that started to crash everything.

You must temporarily disable Kaspersky, then install Malwarebytes, then disable the Ransomware Protection component in Malwarebytes, then reboot and re-enable Kaspersky and you should be able to run the two together with Ransomware Protection disabled in Malwarebytes until this issue is resolved.  Please also note that this issue came about as a result in a change implemented in the most recent Kaspersky builds; it was not due to a change in Malwarebytes and appears to affect all versions of Malwarebytes (both 3.x and 4.x) however the Developers of both companies are working to resolve this issue so hopefully we will see an update that fixes it soon.
