I got a few weeks ago and I love it, I have it on the most strict settings so if I click a link that WoT has not got listed as all green it just stops me from accessing the site and when ever I google anything I always read what others have wrote about sites and add my own opinions.

This link (homepage of WOT) will clear your doubts I hope.

www.mywot.com

WOT is a free Internet security addon for your browser. It will keep you safe from online scams, identity theft, spyware, spam, viruses and unreliable shopping sites. WOT warns you before you interact with a risky website. It's easy and it's free.

Well WOT has many and updated sources, like hphosts, and a pretty foolproof user voting system. But to me WOT is mainly useful if the great and flexible plugin is set up to only react on RED sites. There are rarely any doubts about those. Social chit chat about sites, a certain procentage spammers or fools - hmm Im not sure I like cocktail. As a blocker of obvious redglowing malware sites it is the best by far. Norton, Mcafee are a joke though some users still try to make up for lazyness by commenting/warning on green sites. Only focusing on red site open up for a full yellow which really should be and eventually will be red, but small price to pay. Im not sure it is healthy to wonder too much but activate it on Google searches, with ad-boxes, and you soon see why that can be argued. For less experienced internet users a superb tool. Many security products, including browsers with their attack/phishing filters, owe WOT a lot. Not like they are close to 100% hitrate. Malwarebytes IP-blocking probably related somehow. Another angle and even if just old dumb blocklisting it might be just as effective as hunting ever changing files. Domain down - problem solved. For those who have blocking feature that is. WOT is all that on steroids but also why some dont like it. Important to set up so transparency level gets approved, why I think plugin is 50% of WOTs value. Cant avoid some false positives though. Most of that is fixed by limiting impact to red sites, those that matter. Actually WOT is not the same as for example Malwarebytes IP blocking since not system wide protection, just a little browser plugin, but while surfing in browser functionality is the same.

Panda partnership is one thing, polling about what users think about paying for browser add-on another! They have done that already. Now they have a project about inserting safe links into Google searches which they get a cut of. Definitely looking for income. Hopefully will find a way to maintain the good relationship to userbase they seem to have now. A prolonged trial of Panda stuff does not really put that at risk but marketing ideas can be whatever so time will tell.
