Malwarebytes 4 how to uninstall?

Recommended Posts

Installed Mbam 4 yesterday. Today, my computer doesn't respond at all, nothing. Tried to open the program, doesn't open. Tried to uninstall Mbam with no success, it hangs while uninstalling. Even tried a system restore to yesterday prior to version 4 with no success either.

I want this program out of my system now.

How can I do that?

Thanks

Excellent, I'm glad that it worked.  Yes, I'm sorry for the incident.  Apparently there is some kind of issue with the latest version that occurs when upgrading under certain circumstances, however it is generally cleared up once you can get it removed.

If you wouldn't mind, please do the following so that we may take a look at some of your system's settings to try and determine what might have caused it and we should be able to ensure that you don't have any trouble if you do decide to reinstall it (the info will also be helpful to the Developers in troubleshooting what might have caused the issue to begin with to prevent it for others in the future):

  1. Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
  3. Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

You don't have to of course, but it would be much appreciated if you would.  Either way we're glad that we were able to help you with the issue you experienced and if there is anything else we might assist you with please don't hesitate to let us know.

Thanks

Please help me uninstall.

Thank you.

Please try uninstalling  Malwarebytes for Windows using the Malwarebytes Support tool.

Uninstall using the Malwarebytes Support Tool
https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-2674

Please have lots of patience with the tool.  The first phase is a cleanup and does require a Windows Restart.
After the Restart, it may take 2 - 3 - 4 minutes till the Support tool screen shows up.   Please be patient and have faith.  Wait for it, whatever it takes.
The 2nd phase is where it offers to do a new Install then when it offers a reinstall just say no.

I am having the same issue with almost all computers; it freezes up the system while uninstalling it, it won't even let you reboot.

This issue start happening after the major upgrade to ver 4.xxx. Version 3.xxx worked like a champ!

I wonder if the version 3.xxx still available? If not, I will stop using it.

 Windows Server 2016 Standard

I am sorry to inform you that Malwarebytes Premium (stand alone) is not supported on any server OS and is also against the EULA as well.

I know you are going to say that it has always worked but it has never been supported for Server Operating Systems.

Malwarebytes Premium is for non server OS workstations only.

Normally when you are installing a software of any kind the installation process will let you know if it will work on the existing OS with a show a warning but somehow Malwarebytes goes to the installation process just fine without warning.
People use what they purchase and they just don’t know.
Anyway, I will consider your Server Option on a lab server first and let you know.

Understood and can relate and support.

Very true. But very few notice the requirements or bother to look. Server is not on the list below.

Or do people ever read or care about EULA's. Back when Malwarebytes first started, At the bottom of the agreement there was a note to contact Malwarebytes if they read the bottom and it took months for someone to notice and contact MB for a free gift.

Ok, so MB Premium is not supported on servers, I still need to uninstall it. The Uninstall support tool is stuck at "Cleanup, please wait."  How do I remove Malwarebytes Premium 4.4.0 from Windows Server 2012 R2? Thanks.

Could you restart and run the tool again?

Lets grab some other logs and I will ask a staff member to assist.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.

The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply as well

I'm doing this now. I rebooted a bit ago. After I tried to disable my Immunet AV it reported the service was not running, and I could not get it to start, though Services indicated it was running. Strange, I thing it's infected with something... II did uninstall Immunet, I still cannot get Malwarebytes to uninstall. I have reinstalled Immunet and it is now running a Full Scan of the system.
