How can Auto-Renew be disabled?

Recommended Posts

I disabled the Auto-Renew function a year ago at my last renewal. I decided I was going to cancel at the end of the subscription. I was just notified that I was renewed, yesterday. I checked my credit card statement, and, sure enough, there was the charge to renew for another year. I have spent the last hour searching all over the site trying to find where I can again TRY to disable that function. The only thing I have found is how to ENABLE the Auto-Renew, and it says I can't do that because it is already enabled. I don't want another year's subscription, but all the notices say they will not refund, or cancel a paid subscription. Even though they offer a "30-day money back guarantee" !  The only thing I've found is to cancel the whole subscription. Does that kill my coverage that I just paid for? All I want to do is have manual control as to renewal when the end of term comes, not cancel coverage already paid for.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to simply disable the Auto-Renew feature ?

In order to cancel auto-renewal you would need to contact Malwarebytes Support directly by filling out the form on the bottom of this page and they will assist you, and they can also provide a refund if you do not want to keep the renewed subscription you were charged for.

I hope this helps, and if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know.

It depends on how your license was purchased.  If you bought it through the Malwarebytes website and the payment processor for your transaction was 2Checkout/Avangate then all you need to do is disable the auto-renewal option in your account at My.Malwarebytes.com.  If you haven't signed up there yet, I highly recommend it.  If possible, use the same email address you used when you originally purchased your license as this will make it easier to link your account to your license(s).  Instructions on signing up can be found in this support article.

Once you've signed up and you sign in, if your purchase was through 2Checkout you should see an option there to cancel auto-renewal.

Unfortunately if your purchase was through anyone else, such as Cleverbridge, then you will either need to contact Cleverbridge to have them cancel auto-renewal, or you will need to contact Malwarebytes Support as mentioned above.

The reason it is not simpler is because of the use of multiple e-commerce handlers, and not all of them have APIs to integrate with the Malwarebytes My Account feature at this time so opting out must be done manually in those cases, however we have requested that they try and integrate all payment processors into the My Account feature at My.Malwarebytes.com to make opting out of auto-renewal and other payment related activities for accounts much easier.  The trouble is that it requires work on both sides; i.e. from the e-commerce handlers as well as Malwarebytes' Developers.  Malwarebytes implemented it for 2Checkout/Avangate immediately because the function was available, so it's just a matter of getting Cleverbridge onboard to enable this functionality, and hopefully they will at some point.
