After restart, .exe files no longer work.

Was re-directed here from the general forum.

I cannot run .exe files (the system prompts me to choose which program to run the .exe file with. This was the only way to open Firefox, i.e. by trying to run it and then choosing Firefox to run Firefox with), so downloading a .exe file is not going to help.

Here is my post:

"I downloaded Malwarebytes to get rid of the "Windows Security Pro" pop-up or whatever it was called that was taking over my system.

After a complete scan and then attempting to remove all of the infections, there were 4 items that the program was unable to remove. It then prompted me to re-start so that these additional items could be removed, but upon re-start none of the .exe files work any longer.

What should I do?"

Question for any interested reader: Some of the objects in quarantine are system files. I decided not to delete them b/c of this. Good choice?

what programs quarantine

what are the names of the files and locations they came from ?

If it is mbam's quarantine post the log with the items you are concenend about
