Can't install. Doesn't recognize that I've ALLOWED under privacy settings

I uninstalled on advice of iDrive because backup wasn't working properly.  Now I am trying to reinstall.  I was instructed to open privacy settings and click ALLOW. I did that.  Doesn't work.  Tried multiple times.  Also tried rebooting.  What next?  Thank you

My Macbook is on Mojave, and I have the same problem as marylee.

Follow the first document.  However, since Mojave I have, in any case, granted full access to the disc (which is still mandatory with Catalina) as described in the second document

i have followed the first article provided by MAXBAR1, and still keep arriving at the same place:  Malwarebytes shows as having access in my Privacy settings, but I can't go to Malwarebytes setting to set myself up as I wish. I keep getting referred back to Privacy settings.

Were you able to complete the steps from 14 through 16 which involve clicking "Allow" the Security & Privacy "General" Tab, not Privacy yet.
