Do I have a virus?

Recommended Posts

Hello, so recently I downloaded a bunch of mods to play on a Farming Simulator server however, I thought if they were viruses I could scan them however I cannot because they are RAR and ZIP files. I downloaded all of these -

https://mega.nz/#F!ivJBEQbZ!b5BphCw4PjjSaMFUnirYqw

and Malwarebytes tells me I have no viruses but I still believe I do even after removing all the mods because I don't think Malwarebytes scans those files.

If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings,

Malwarebytes does scan RAR, ZIP and several other archive types so if they contain any malware it should be detected.  That said, if you believe your system is infected then please read and follow the instructions in this topic and then create a new topic in our malware removal area by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you in checking your system for any threats and removing any if found.

Please let us know if there is anything else we might assist you with.

Thanks

I just don’t know if I do have a virus a lot of people said that downloading more from those sites could give you a virus but Malwarebytes and Webroot said that my computer is clean and fine. I’m just really paranoid that I have a RAT or a root kit that was executed when I ran the game and is now watching me, listening to me and stealing all my passwords.

If you want peace of mind then follow my instructions above and one of our malware removal specialists can verify for certain whether or not the system is infected, and if it is they will guide you in the process of getting it cleaned up and back to normal.  It never hurts to double check and I'm sure it would be worth it just to address your concerns so that you don't have to be stressed about it.  I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to security and privacy myself so I definitely understand wanting to be certain in a case like this.

The Farbar FRST is a reporting tool.   We use it for a first review.   An initial report that is independent of Malwarebytes program, that an expert will look over. By itself, the tool does not make changes & is not "a virus remover"   ....though an expert might provide a custom fix that may use the FRST tool.

The FRST is widely used in the security & Windows-help community.  It is trusted tool.  There is no call to be afraid about it.

You say Malwarebytes for Windows reports no malware.

If you want a review of your pc from a expert, run that report, create the help topic and attach the report.

BOTTOM line, if you are thinking you have a infection of some sort, Do as that pinned-topic advises.

Okay, I will do that. One more thing though! A while back in March I installed a RAT and luckily malwarebytes caught it and I did a full format however im looking in my windows folder and I see files from March from when I got the RAT even after I did a full format is this suppose to be like this!?!??!!?? or do I still have that RAT from months ago?!??!!? https://gyazo.com/dc12d0469140664dea565801bdb42a56

Yeah, sorry that was kind of confusing. I've gone ahead and done what you said above. What I was trying to say though is if I got a RAT back in March, and I did a full format yet in my Windows folder there are still some files that were modified before my format that are still there, is that just normal, or could a virus be with one of them still?
