Thank you for your interest in Malwarebytes Browser Guard (MBG).

According to the https://www.malwarebytes.com/browserguard/ -> Tech specs -> Software Requirements publication, MBG is supported only with the Windows platform at this time.  However, MBG seems to function correctly with the macOS Mojave/Catalina platforms.

Perhaps a Malwarebytes Product Manager can comment further.  In the meantime, have you tried MBG in an Android supported device?

I had the beta version of Browser Guard for Firefox extension on my old android phone.

It worked OK but did slow it down, I haven't tried it since Browser Guard has been fully released.

We don't officially support Browser Guard addon on FF Android.

Having said that, some people are using it successfully without any issues and some with limited capability/functionality.

No one is testing on XP, I know that much, because Malwarebytes as a company no longer supports XP with any of its software except the last released version of their primary Malwarebytes product supported on XP which was version 3.5 (and the same is true of Vista).

That said, I don't know what prevents newer versions of Firefox from working on XP, but there is a portable version of Firefox so if it works with XP that might be a way to get a newer browser running on XP where Malwarebytes Browser Guard would most likely be compatible.  That's just speculation though; I don't have an XP box to test it on myself.

As far as FF & XP, 36 is the last version. As far as MBAM & XP, I hadn't heard anything about incompatibilities. I've taken all updates that were offered to me with no issue. Currently running 3.5.1.22. Are you saying there are neweerr versions that haven't been offered due to running XP?

Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.x requires a minimum of Firefox v57.

Since Firefox v57 won't run on XP or Vista, Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.x  is not XP or Vista compliant.

Yes, the latest is version 3.8.3; details on that release can be found here and information on XP and Vista compatibility can be found in this post.  You can see the entire release history for version 3.x on the right side of this page if you click where it says Release History.  There have been 3 major releases and numerous component update releases since the version you are running, however since you have the last supported version for XP, the newer versions will not be offered to you as it detects your OS when checking for updates and will only provide signature/database updates.

FYI, I did find the legacy version of the portable build of Firefox version 52 for XP on this page and it appears that they've got it patched with all security patches through June 21st, 2018 though that doesn't seem to meet the requirements for Malwarebytes Browser Guard either unfortunately, though it is certainly more secure than version 36 which you're using now.

No worries, at least you've been running the latest and most secure version you can on your OS, that's the important thing.  I'm sorry we couldn't provide a working version of the browser extension, but at least you have the Web Protection component in Malwarebytes with Premium.  It blocks a lot of malicious content.  Of course we obviously recommend you get onto a more modern version of Windows as soon as you are able to in order to have the best security and modern software compatibility, but in the meantime if there is anything else we might assist you with please let us know.

Thank you! I have one Win 10 box, but I rarely use it as I dislike 8 & 10. 7 would have been ok, except I was one of the people who constantly got hit with the Windows Update doesn't work" bug on 7. Someday I'll have time to switch to Linux..........

My fantasy is the XP gui with Win 10 under the hood (Good luck). (-:

If BG ever becomes approved for Android, I'd love knowing that.

Unofficially, users may find that 2.⋯ versions of the extension work fine with Firefox 56.0.2.

Note, this is not a recommendation to use any version of Firefox that is no longer supported by Mozilla.
