A new Malwarebytes 4 Beta is now Available

Recommended Posts

Malwarebytes Community,

Thank you so much for helping us build and improve your product. The latest version of it, still in the form of a New Beta is available for you to test, download it from this link.

This Beta still only supports manual upgrades from Malwarebytes 3.8.3. In case of any issue with a manual over-install, we recommend a fresh install. We still do not support upgrading from previous 4.x versions.

Please keep in mind, as with all previous Betas from all previous versions, this one provides a preview for identifying possible defects and allows early access to new features. We caution that Betas are not fully tested by Malwarebytes and may include significant issues. We strongly recommend that you backup all of your data prior to installing and using Beta software. It is offered “As-Is” and does not carry any warranties or support services.

So what’s New in this New Malwarebytes 4 Beta:

  • Revised Installer look and feel
  • Improved first time setup (onboarding wizard)
  • Links to Malwarebytes Labs and knowledge base for detected threats
  • Real-Time Protection Global Stats and Dashboard
  • Embedded Malwarebytes Labs Blog and Articles
  • New check for updates function
  • Added View Detections functionality for Scans in Progress
  • Numerous Improvements to the User Interface
  • Improved Overall Performance, Stability and Compatibility

Some Issues from previous Betas now addressed:

  • Fixed: Scans stuck at Pre-scan Operations
  • Fixed: Miscellaneous UI Issues
  • Fixed: Miscellaneous Reporting Issues
  • Fixed: Cannot deactivate Expired License and other License Activation Issues
  • Fixed: VCnotext Scan Menu hanging with Assistant.exe fault
  • Fixed: numerous crashes and hangs

We appreciate your continued feedback in this beta forum on existing or new topics.

Submitting False Positives

Before proceeding, please ensure the following:

  • The Malwarebytes scan has completed.
  • Any false-positive detections are not quarantined.
  • If you have quarantined the false-positive, refer to the, "What should I do if the false-positive detection is quarantined?" steps below.

Step 1:

Download the following tool: https://malwarebytes.box.com/v/mb-fp-tracker
For x86 machines: https://malwarebytes.box.com/v/mb-fp-tracker-x86

Step 2:

Double-click fp_tracker_1.5.0.0.exe to run the tool and follow the prompts.

Step 3:

Upon completion, you should see: "Output: {filename} Please provide this file for analysis.". Please attach the referenced file to a forum reply or upload it a file hosting service of your choice and provide the download link.

What should I do if the false-positive detection is quarantined?

Ensure the detection is unquarantined before running the tool. To restore the false-positive from the Malwarebytes Quarantine:

  • Open Malwarebytes.
  • Click Detection History.
  • Place a checkmark next to the false-positive item(s).
  • Click Restore.

Once restored, proceed with step 1 above to run the tool.
