If a system is that screwed up, I would not trust anything less than a reformat after saving and scanning data.

Yes, Chameleon has proven quite powerful in the past.  It isn't in use with Malwarebytes today except for its self-protection driver, however I'm sure they would update it for the current version of Malwarebytes if the bad guys start trying to block Malwarebytes again the way they used to.

Agreed, I try to avoid a format if possible, if only because I hate to lose.  Unfortunately sometimes it is the only option, but only as a last resort.
