backdoor.trojan repeatedly blocked by Norton - Norton & MWB Scans Do Not Detect

Recommended Posts

I am running Windows Vista with Norton Internet Security 2009 installed and up to date

The other day it seems that I was infected with a trojan. My Norton informs me each time I start my computer now that it blocks a backdoor.trojan. Usually one notification as soon as I start up, and then another one a little bit later. However, numerous scans of my comptuer in both normal mode and safe mode turn up nothing more than tracking cookies most of the time. The odd time it will find a trojan and quarantine it. But the notifications that backdoor.trojan attempt has been blocked do not stop. I downloaded Malwarebytes and initially it found backdoor.trojan and trojan.downloader and quarantined them. But subsequent scans either find nothing, or trojan.agent. When it finds trojan.agent I will select that it be removed, however if I scan again, it will just reappear.

Is this a serious problem? This is not normal for my Norton to have this type of activity and it seems like something is in my computer messing around.

Here is the latest MWB scan which found nothing:
