I'm not aware of any such project, however there is the recently released Malwarebytes Browser Guard which is available for both Google Chrome (as well as other Chromium based browsers like SRWare Iron, Vivaldi and Microsoft's new Edge Chromium browser) and Mozilla Firefox which does have some behavior based web blocking capabilities for certain types of malicious sites including tech support scam sites among others, though it also uses databases to block other malicious sites that it cannot block behaviorally.  It also has ad blocking and tracker blocking to speed up browsing and protect privacy.

You can learn more about it here and you can find it on the Google Web Store and the Firefox Add-ons site; just search for 'malwarebytes' and it should be the first extension listed on each site.

FWIW, link shows Author Removed this Addon, AND any Search for - Malwarebytes - in FF Addons nets VirusTotal results ONLY -

I have Mbam Browser Extension loaded and Updated 8/23 but Cannot Find it again searching in FF; Only see it via manage Extension.

What's Up with Mbam in FF?

The Malwarebytes for Windows Premium has multiple layers of protection, including behavior based protection.

As to the FF browser guard, not sure why this is brought up here, but ....

Ron posted on Friday

Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox: v2.0.1 for FF has been disabled for now, we are working on few fixes before bringing it back online.
