Save Yourself Email Help

Recommended Posts

I am a premium client and I received the below email (on an email I rarely use except for junk). Three passwords were revealed, one is fake, the other two are not commonly used anymore. I have reviewed other similar topics and ran the "AWD" and "Farbar" tools, results of which I do have logs, but chose not to attach until I hear from you. What next, can you help? I am concerned about opening any of my installed programs.

The email starts off with:

Hey, I know your password is: *****

Your computer was infected with my malware, RAT (Remote Administration Tool), your browser wasn't updated / patched, in such case it's enough to just visit some website where my iframe is placed to get automatically infected, if you want to find out more - Google: "Drive-by exploit".

Hello HVV4.     :welcome:

That email is a phishing email.   It is a made up attempt aimed to scam you out of money.  Delete it.

As far as EMAIL issue in general
The Malwarebytes for Windows Premium software does not control emails. nor does it filter or control spam emails.
What our software does have is the web protection ( in addition to other real time protections) to protect the web browsers from reaching dodgy sites that are known to have malicious content,

That said, spam email is the bane of existence on the web.
Spam emails ( & phishing emails) are an unfortunate everyday occurrence. But their presence does not mean that your machine has any infection.

My suggestion is to delete spam outright. And to NOT use the "unsubscribe" link which would be another scam.

The fact is that email spammers can manufacture emails on their own and without anything to do with your machine.

If you ever left your email address out on a public venue – that is one way for your address to have been lifted.
More likely, it may have been from any one of many data breaches

If needed, you could look into using something like Mailwasher.
Mailwasher is owned by Firetrust. They have some free & some paid products.
The main website is this http://www.mailwasher.net

They also indicate they have a free spam blocker
