Malwarebytes Premium + Eset NOD32 Antivirus enough?

Recommended Posts

I'm still running Windows 7 Pro x64. I have Malwarebytes Premium + Eset NOD32 Antivirus running in my systray and up to date.

The question is: will I still be safe after 14 January 2020, when Microsoft ends support for Windows 7? Or should I update to Windows 10?

Thanks.

Hello @pinkish and welcome back.

Malwarebytes Premium 3.8.3.2965 and ESET NOD32 12.2.23.0 are a fine combination and I too run them.

That said, I highly recommend you generate a full system backup soon, run the Windows 10 Compatibility Checker and shortly thereafter upgrade to Windows 10 to enjoy the support, new features and added protections.

Please let us know if the forum can answer any other questions.

Hey @1PW

Thanks for the detailed reply. I guess I'll run the Compatibility Checker, although I think my system is compatible, then I'll find the time to upgrade to Windows 10 before the end of the year.

I read that my key for Win 7 Pro works for a clean install of Win 10, so that's an added bonus, because I prefer a clean install.

Cheers!

Yes, it should.  It is my understanding that you can just install Windows 10 and then enter your Windows 7 license key and it should work and once it activates/registers with Microsoft it should convert your 7 key to a 10 key automatically.
