y.exy error plus redirecting virus

Hello all and thanks in advance for this great forum.

Last two days I have experienced an error stating that y.exy is missing upon startup, slow firefox browsing, redirecting of firefox to sites other than those being visited, sluggish computer, and popups. I did some reading on this forum and have run a scan using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.41 (log below) and have also attached the HijackThis results (run after the Anti-Malware scan/clean). The Anti-Malware software identified a number of items and seems to have cleaned them (I have not seen any of the previous symptoms in an hour of use since the scan).

My concerns are three:

1. Have I taken care of the problem? If not, I appreciate further assistance?

2. What are the nature of these viruses (i.e. what do they do), and should I be changing usernames/passwords to recently visited sites?

3. Is my computer safe to use with respect to personal financial sites, as I don't want to expose myself to identity theft risks?

I have the same "y.exy" problem. AVG and Adaware can't solve it.

Firefox and IE are both hijacked to display ads.

My solution will be to install Windows 7 today. Got to eventually do it one of these days or I'll have to become a hip Mac.
