Don't bother, they will not assist you. Their update removed your key and they want it that way. I entered a support ticket and was called a liar, providing proof of purchase. They'd prefer you sign up with their subscription service.

Thankfully, I had an old support zip file. If you've ever worked with support previously, try to find one of the created zip files.

At this location you will find a LicenseConfig.json file:

C:\Users\username\Desktop\2018-04-28-CORSAIRONE.zip\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\config\

In the LicenseConfig.json file (editable with notepad or notepad++) you will find a line called "entitlementKey". This should house your license key and an ID if it was required (mine had both in the following format: XXXXX-XXXXX:XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) The ID is before the colon, key is after.

I wanted to come here and make a very upset post, only to find others in the same exact struggle I just went through with support. I hope my information helps you. Why on earth they had their update completely strip your license key is beyond me, if not for aggressive business tactics.

No one is trying to take your key away. If you purchased direct from Malwarebytes or an AUTHORIZED reseller the lifetime key will always be good. Where did you purchase your key? How many computers were you trying to use your lifetime key on?

you need to know is that there have been zero changes to the original terms of your lifetime license. We haven’t stopped honoring lifetime licenses and we aren’t discontinuing support.

Pure nonsense you speak! I have added my lifetime licenses to Malwarebytes my account, made with the email that i bought them long time ago.

Upgraded to 3.8.3 without any problem on all my computers. Further i really do not believe support will say you are a liar...Maybe you are not completely playing fair game...

The update stripped my reg key and blew away my LicenseConfig.json file. I'd call that taking my key away.

It was purchased from a tech seller on Amazon. Authorized or not, show me the list of authorized resellers. I'll wait. I see no difference with this over buying from a local non-chain PC shop.

I used it on a single device (I've upgraded PC's a few times, but always deactivated my old device prior to wiping to prevent any issues, honestly had no idea until coming here regarding this issue that it was capable of 3 PC installs, my box said 1 PC). I had my key written on a piece of paper last time I upgraded my pc, it has since gone missing. That is all on me.

Yes, my key is still valid, after I found it in an old file. If I did not have that old file, I would have completely lost my license. And because the software update removed it, I could not provide it to support, and without that, they could not give me a replacement, even with the proof of purchase provided.

An update should not have removed this configuration. I take equal blame for not keeping my key in a safe place.

@SPDIF this would have been impossible for me at the time. I purchased this license back in 2014. Their account site did not even debut until 2017 (https://web.archive.org/web/20170801000000*/https://my.malwarebytes.com/en/login). Tonight, I registered my key to my new account.

Sounds like your set. Your install is activated and you have future access in the portal. Like you said, there is plenty of "blame" to go around. I am happy you got it fixed.

I am sorry you had to go thru all of this. Best wishes.
