More lifetime License Single Device Multiple Boot Partitions

I too take issue with the promises made in the past.

I understand the lifetime licence is for use on a single device, so please don't tell me to read the conditions. I've always understood that, but the specific question of

dual booting with a single licence was asked on February 19th, 2014, and answered by "Advanced Setup Staff". The reply was "As long as they're used in the same computer and not running at the same time then it will work and should not have any issues." 

 

I reached out when my second system lost it's Premium status, on Support Ticket 2645055, but was given the stock reply.

When this was answered back in 2014, you knew that the asker was installing it twice on the same device and it was approved. How can you now say that was always the policy regarding dual boots.

We have been misled!

That was before Malwarebytes had "real" licensing system. Back then people were "allowed" to "bend" the system. It was not part of the "official" EULA agreement.

I do understand your disappointment and that you feel misled. I too back in the day ran it in a dual boot for a while.

But the EULA is what we agreed to when running the software in the beginning.

I purchased enough keys back then since they were so cheap I now have several extras.

Same here; in fact, at one point early on I was running it on a single device with 5 operating systems (XP x86, both builds of Vista (x86/x64), both builds of 7 (x86/x64)) as it was part of my job to test for issues with the software in every supported OS at the time (back when I was a member of the QA team for Malwarebytes), however that wouldn't be possible today since full enforcement of licenses is now in place.  This means that all of the perks to the previous honor system where it had built in grace for the convenience of the users are now gone, though thankfully they did wait to do this until first providing a means for users to deactivate their devices/licenses reliably via the new My.Malwarebytes.com license management system (it would be a real nightmare without it as we'd have to contact Support any time we needed to change devices or had a hardware failure or OS failure where we could no longer boot the device into the OS to deactivate the software).

Why didn't you say "the licence is for single use only", even if you knew it could be used more than once. We were led to believe that "one device" was 1 computer, and dual boot was okay.

You could have saved a lot of grief by being upfront, honest and direct 5 years ago. That Feb 19, 2014 was answered by yourself!!!

Your analogy would make sense if it weren't for the fact that it was stated quite clearly in rather large text at the time of purchase that each lifetime license was for a single installation only.  What anyone might have said in the past because of the former grace built into the licensing system is irrelevant; lifetime licenses are now and have always been for just 1 device/installation and anyone who had it installed on more than that (including myself at one time, as I already mentioned above) were simply exploiting a gap in the former license validation system.

I'm sorry for butting in on a thread not my own but...

I have receipts from Malwarebytes own web store that are for lifetime licences that do NOT say anything about single installation. Your claim that such a statement exist on all purchases is provably false.
