FYI: On two PCs each with MWB activated with a lifetime license I updated from version 3.7.x to version 3.8.3 and in both cases I was asked to activate the product. When I try to enter the same license ID/ Key combination that was on the PC in I'm told the usage level exceeds maximum installations allowed. The recommendation is to deactivate devices from the website, but none of my lifetime licenses nor devices appear on the website even though the licenses are registered.
I've opened a support case and will reply back with any generic steps they ask me to take on my side if that's the resolution.

Support reset the count on each license and I was able to activate. To be clear, this is not the "3 PCs one license" issue others have reported. I purchased three lifetime licenses back in 2012 and each license is installed on only one PC.

If any of you have not done so already, please create a support ticket with Malwarebytes Support by filling out the form on the bottom of this page and they will assist you directly via email as soon as they are able.  They respond to tickets in the order in which they are received, so the sooner you get your ticket created, the sooner they will respond.  Based on recent reports from users who have successfully done the same to get their licenses sorted out, the wait times seem to be anywhere from 1~3 days depending on how busy they are.  I do not know how they will be staffed for the 4th of July holiday coming up, so that might also delay things a bit, however they will assist you as soon as they can to get your licenses sorted and connected to your own accounts on My.Malwarebytes.com so that you will be able to manage your own licenses without their assistance going forward (they had to do the same for me a while back which is the only reason I didn't have this same issue when I installed 3.8 as I'd already experienced it with 3.7.1 and they got everything sorted out then when I contacted them).

I have opened a ticket for this issue.  It seems a common question among the regulars here.

First, I have two different ID and KEY codes, one for a laptop, another for a desktop.

Second, the laptop reverted to Premium trial when it updated the software.  The desktop is fine.

Third, no matter the entry code to the laptop, I still get the notice about usage level exceeded maximum installations.

Fourth, I cannot register nor activate the laptop codes after this software update issue.  The day before the update all was fine as MB Premium.

This occurred in 2017 and needed Support to reset the coding.  Any input about solution would be appreciated.  I have tried numerous solution ideas from the forum...

Support will resolve the issue again, and this time I'd recommend creating an account at My.Malwarebytes.com if you haven't done so already and have Support link all of your licenses to that My.Malwarebytes.com account so that in the future you may manage and reset your licenses on your own without having to wait on them to do it which will make reinstalling and migrating licenses much easier in the future.

Part 2:

Once in the website I see the link to Register a License.  Once I entered the coding that is when I see the prompt that they are already registered.  That's what occurred in 2017 and support was the only way to reset the codes to work on the laptop.

Please go ahead and work with your Support Agent on the Helpdesk @anchovie1 and they can assist you in getting your issues resolved. Once it is resolved you'll be able to manage it on your own from the My Account page.

Thank you and have a great 4th and great weekend as well

Ron
