Need help with recurring virus

Recommended Posts

I made the mistake of torrenting stuff and not being smart about it. Something I installed turned out to be a virus I removed the bulk of it, but this safe finder thing wouldn't leave so I did a factory reset, but now whenever I sign into my google account on chrome and sync everything it comes back so I have to delete ithe google folder in local appdata and when I sign in it happens again and thus the cycle continues. My question is how to remove it from my account all together?

The names of the files are

C:\Users\samij\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Web data

C:\Users\samij\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\sync data\Syncdata.sqlite3

C:\Users\samij\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\web data

C:\Users\samij\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\secure preferences

Hi  :welcome:

My name is Maurice.  I will be helping and guiding you.

I am understanding that there are re-occurring P U P  type items in Chrome history.

First, I suggest you to go to https://www.google.com/settings/chrome/sync and sign into your account.
Scroll down until you see the "reset sync" button and click on the button
At the prompt click on "Ok".

With CHROME web browser, press and hold SHIFT + CTRL + DELete keys on the keyboard to start the process to delete all browser cache & history.

I would suggest to download, Save, and then run Malwarebytes ADWCLEANER.

Please close Chrome and all other open web browsers after you have saved the Adwcleaner and before you start Adwcleaner.

Please download the current release for Malwarebytes AdwCleaner from here:
https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/adwcleaner

Go to the folder where you saved Adwcleaner. Double click Adwcleaner to start it.

At the prompt for license agreement, review and then click on I agree.

You will then see a main screen for Adwcleaner. ( if you do not see it right away, minimized the other open windows, so you can see Adwcleaner).

Then click on Dashboard button.

Click the blue button "Scan Now".

allow it a few minutes to finish the Scan.

You should then see a screen showing "Scan results".

Review what is listed. If something is listed that you know for sure is safe, then for that line, click the check-box on the left so that it is un-checked.

(NOTE, clicking the small right pointed little arrow, will cause the screen to refresh & show all line items . )

When ready, click on the button "Clean and repair".

If prompted to restart then click on "Clean & Restart Now".

When You see screen with "Your cleanup is complete", click on the View Log file button.

It should then show as a open window in your text editor ( normally Notepad).

Do a File >> Save As, given it a unique name and Save to your Desktop or some other permanent folder.

Kindly provide a copy of that run report. Attach it with reply.

When done with Adwcleaner, click the X button to Exit out.

Thank you.
