Greetings,

For version 3.7.1 most of the settings files and data/logs etc. are stored under C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService with settings themselves being stored in config files there.  I don't believe the endpoint client software has an option to determine how long files are stored, but the management console for the business managed client version may.  You'll find the administration guide for the console here and the guide for the unmanaged version can be found here.  The guide for the cloud managed version can be found here.

I hope this helps, but if you were referring to something else please let us know.

Thanks

hmm, I may have posted in the wrong sub-forum. This is what my screen looks like, it is running on Windows Server 2012 R2

Yep, that's the consumer version alright, so it's just as I said.  As far as I know there is no option for controlling how long data is retained.  You should also be aware that while you are certainly welcome to do so, Malwarebytes isn't officially supported on any Server versions of Windows, primarily because it isn't tested on them and there have been some issues with Windows Server compatibility in the past.  As long as it isn't causing any issues for your system then you should be OK, I just wanted to make you aware of it in case any trouble does pop up.

I believe I used to have controls for data retention, is it possible that I upgraded to the wrong version when I received the prompt to upgrade? What version would you recommend? (The only time I had an issue was when MWB crashed computers globally (2 years ago I think), and I don't believe that was restricted to Server.)

Thanks!

It depends on the type of license that you have.  If you are a business customer then there might be a different build that you should be running, however if you just have a consumer license then that is the appropriate version.  I believe there is or was an option in some of the business products to control log retention as you mentioned, so if you are on a business version I'd try to find out which one specifically and then check to see if that functionality is still available in the latest release (it's possible that the feature was removed going from 2.x to 3.x).  If you aren't sure which specific product/license type you have then I'd recommend contacting Malwarebytes support by filling out the form on the bottom of this page and they can look it up based on your license key or order number and they'll provide info on which build you should be using and where to get it.

I looked back through my PCI documentation from previous years, it turns out that the version I had in 2017 said "corporate" in the name... and that apparently the card used to auto-renew the subscription "declined" (I hope due to expired card not being updated) and I assume that caused the "downgrade" ... Now it goes from a software issue to an accounting one...

Thank you so much for all the assistance!

Ah, that explains it :)

Yes, I bet you're right, the card likely declined due to being out of date (very common, especially since I don't think there is any kind of automated reminder when that sort of issue occurs, or at least there likely wasn't back then).  You should have no trouble getting it sorted by contacting Malwarebytes Support or Sales to get the right license and product, and hopefully the latest version does include the data management features that you seek, but just in case it does not I will still go ahead and put in a feature request for it for the corporate/business version.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything else we might assist you with and we'll do our best to help.

Thanks
