Ransomware module kills the Random Write performance of SSD

I have  a Samsung 850EVO in good health. 

 

WHen i run HDD tests, i get close to expected speeds around 90K

 

When i tun on ransomware module on 3.7.1 or another earlier MB version that has it, my Random Write speed drops by 60% to 30k or so. 

 

I've alredy reinstalled windows from long service to latest consumer 1903 to try and possibly fix it, same result

1. When Windows 10 was reinstalled, what version of Samsung Magician currently installed?
2. To see if your observations can be recreated, are you using benchmarking software other than that within Samsung Magician?
3. Which File System is the Windows partition formatted to now?
4. Is the installation using Samsung Magician's Over Provisioning feature?
5. What is the firmware version of the 850 EVO?  Is the SSD firmware up-to-date?
6. Is Samsung Magician's RAPID mode enabled?

I have tried 5.3.1 - The scan takes much longer than v4, but still same result. i went back to 4.97, it does disk tests twice as fast. 

1. To see if your observations can be recreated, are you using benchmarking software other than that within Samsung Magician?

4. Is the installation using Samsung Magician's Over Provisioning feature? No. It did on previous windows version, but it didn't make a difference. 
5. What is the firmware version of the 850 EVO?  Is the SSD firmware up-to-date? Latest EMT02B6Q
6. Is Samsung Magician's RAPID mode enabled? Rapid mode wacks all results out of proportion, i have it disabled right now until this this is sorted

Samsung Magician 4.9.7 is over three years old...

Please try using the benchmarking test within Samsung Magician 4.9.7 and reply to this topic with your results with and without the Malwarebytes ARW module enabled/disabled.

Thanks you for reporting this; I will submit a report on this issue to the Product team for analysis and hopefully the Developers will be able to resolve the issue in a future release or at least improve performance somewhat.  It may also help to exclude the program you're using to test from Ransomware Protection as it may be that Ransomware Protection is slowing it up due to monitoring.  To do so, follow the instructions under the Exclude a File or Folder section of this support article and be sure to select either the first option to exclude it from all modules or at least the last option to exclude it from detection as ransomware only (both methods will exclude it from Ransomware Protection).  You may exclude the entire program folder for Samsung Magician if you wish as folder exclusions are recursive, or you may exclude its main executable(s), just be sure to exclude the actual process that handles the testing.

Please let us know how it goes and if the exclusions help.

I have tried 5.3.1 Samsung Magician. identical result despite test taking 3 times longer

Though for testing I am using a 512GB Samsung 850 PRO, and likely using entirely different hardware resources, my results were not nearly as dramatic as your report.

Can you confirm that you are using CrystalDiskMark v6.0.2 Standard Edition 64 bit portable.  If not, please tell me which one you are using.

When I have another opportunity (soon), I will carefully document my results in a reply here.
