Cant login to existing 8 year old account because of password format

Recommended Posts

I am trying to set up a new computer on windows.   I CANNOT LOG IN because my password now requires a different format.   I cannot do anything.

I have 5 systems at home and require a 6th.   I cannot even look at my account.  I have been a user for over 8 years.

Greetings,

If you are referring to entering your license key into Malwarebytes, you should be able to enter an old format license key by following the instructions in this support article making sure to check the checkbox referred to in step 4. in the support article.  That should allow you to enter your old format key to activate your license.

If that does not resolve the issue or if you're having trouble with something else please let us know.

Thanks

Hi VodkaSurprise,

When you last attempted to activate the license on the Malwarebytes program itself, what was the exact exception message?

That would help a lot.

Was it like "Maxixum activations exceeded"?

.

You seem to be now alluding to the My Account page.   If not, stop and please clarify.

On the My Account page,

use the blue "Forgot password" link.

Then wait to receive an Email so that you have the means to Reset the password ( for that Myaccount).

Hopefully this will provide you the means to change the password.

.

If you get stuck, or cannot make progress, then

Please go to this link   https://support.malwarebytes.com/community/contactsupport/pages/home-support

Provide the detail and submit the ticket.

Do scroll down to the section “Create Ticket”.

Please double check that you supply a valid / properly spelled & correct Email  ( hopefully the same one you used at the time or original purchase).

On the line “How can we help you”

Be sure to Select "I have a question about the My Account portal".

.

.

This is a general type help list.

Assuming you bought licenses directly from Malwarebytes, you would have supplied a Email at the original purchase.

That same email is what you should use to login to Malwarebytes MyAccount.

https://my.malwarebytes.com/en/login

If you have misplaced or do not have the password for that login, use the blue "Forgot password" link.

Keep in mind that the Email has to be valid and active.

.

That being able to do that login and then to see what it shows there for Licenses is an important factor.

If you do not see your license listed there, you can not make headway on your own.  In the latter case, you will need to create a Support help ticket  ( if not already done).

There are several help articles on the Support portal about the topic of licenses, de-activation, re-activation.

Start with Manage subscriptions in My Account  https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1032

Patience is the watchword.
.
I would encourage you, if you have not already done so, to create a Help Ticket with Support.   This forum can only provide you generic type help.

Be sure to Select  “Need help activating a Malwarebytes product”.
