"Chrome took too long to respond" Please help?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, hopefully, this issue seems simple to the guys who are really good at getting rid of malware and what not.

A few weeks ago, my laptop would work fine for about 15 or so minutes then when I try visiting ANY websites that weren't Google and YouTube, I would get a long loading time followed by a blank screen that says "Chrome took too long to respond". Now, every since yesterday morning, that 15 minutes has gone down to like 2 minutes. I barely have any time to scroll the internet because the Chrome message from before pops up and/or the page freezes and becomes unresponsive. I imagine this has something to do with malware and what not.

Can someone help me, please? I can download JRT, MalwareBytes, ComboFix or anything else I may need to fix this problem. Thank you so much!

Hey, thanks so much for replying. I'm ready for the next steps and I'm attaching the .txt files as requested.

I'm really not sure what's wrong with my laptop. Not only did the MBAM scan take over 9 hours but FRST froze while scanning. I waited an hour to see if it would continue by itself but it remained frozen. I restarted my computer and tried running as administrator but got the same result. I made sure I was running the 64-bit version too. I'm not sure why this is. However, it did leave a .txt file on my desktop after I restarted it again. Also, AdwCleaner said no threats were detected after I had performed the scan.

Thank you again

Hi,

The FRST.TXT log was truncated or the program stopped before completion.
You did  not post the Addition.txt log possibly for the same reason.

Can you run the computer in Safe mode and run the Farbar program.
If the logs are completed make sure they are complete and post them.

Safe Mode how to:

How to run sfc /Scannow
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

When completed refer to the Microsoft article again and follow the instructions to view details of the System File Checker process

Post the contents of the sfcdetails.txt file for my review.

Let me know if you can now run the computer normally.

I got this error message.

Prior to doing this, my laptop started to work somewhat normal. I no longer got the "took too long" message. But yesterday, pages started taking extremely long to load resulting in me having to continuously restart my laptop. I got the took too long message for the first time in about two days sometime this morning also.
