I suspect my laptop has been infected,- I have received e-mails with threats, informing of an infection with CVE-2019-1663. Therefore I decided to install Malwarebytes Free Edition. The process of installation went OK till the "Finnish". However, when i was trying to start the program (either by pressing the related icon, or by activating the mbam.exe application nothing really happened. I have reinstalled the program several times but still with the same result. I run Windows 10.  Pls help!  😉

Greetings,

I'm sorry that your system seems infected, but we should be able to help you get it cleaned up and running properly again.  To start, please try running Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to see if it is able to run.  If so, have it scan your system and remove anything it finds, restarting if prompted to do so to complete the threat removal process.  Once that's done, if anything was removed, try running Malwarebytes again to see if it is now able to run properly, and if so go ahead and scan with it to see if it finds any additional threats.

If Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit was unable to run or if after doing those scans the system still seems infected, go ahead and follow the instructions in this topic and create a new topic in the malware removal area by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you in checking and cleaning the system of any remaining threats.

Good luck, and please let us know if there is anything else we might assist you with.

Thanks
