Hello @hlw_rocer:

1. On the computer in question, if the downloaded mb3-setup-consumer- installer file is legitimate, by obtaining directly from the Malwarebytes server, and you have tried running the installer file by right-clicking on its icon and selecting RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator, and a permissions error message is still produced, please proceed below:

2. Please sequentially follow steps 1 through 10 of the "gather" instructions in the upper "Reveal hidden contents" area and attach/post the mbst-grab-results.zip file in your next reply.

Thank you.

Hello @hlw_rocer:

Please relate what was experienced in step 1 in my first reply to your topic.

Thank you for the gathered results above.  Those results show that critical Malwarebytes servers failed to respond when queried. The gathered results do show that the operating system is Windows 8.1 (versus Windows 8.0) and has a 64-bit (x64) architecture.

Thus, please download Farbar's trusted FRST64.exe tool only from >> here << and then sequentially perform steps 2 through 9 within Run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool to gather logs document.

Two (2) output text files will be produced in the same directory where FRST64.exe was run from.  Please ATTACH (versus copy & paste) the following files in your next reply to this topic:

  1. FRST.txt
  2. Addition.txt

Thank you.
