don't laugh, I know its old but it is a licensed disc which won't update; I am still running MS 7 Pro.  the malwarebytes won't update, thoughts?

If it is licensed with a lifetime key and you have the info, you should be able to download the latest version and install it and use the same key to activate it.

What do you mean it won't update, the definitions or the program itself?

You can download the latest version from HERE

Is it really that easy . Just download and install and the lifetime will be updated to the new version ??

Yes, lifetime licenses include all future updates/upgrades and I'd strongly recommend you upgrade immediately as the older a version of Malwarebytes is the fewer signatures in the databases it will actually be able to use due to all of the drastic changes and updates to the detection syntax/signatures that have been coded over the years (older versions of Malwarebytes were designed to deliberately ignore any type of signature that they are not familiar with/cannot read in order to prevent false positives or breaking the software) and the database syntax/structure gets updated with just about every new release of Malwarebytes, including minor point releases and component updates as the Research team and Developers create new methods of detecting the latest threats.

To ensure you don't have any problems upgrading, be sure to sign up at My.Malwarebytes.com (instructions on how to do so can be found in this support article) and add your license key to your account there so that you can manage it.  If you have any problems then simply contact Malwarebytes Support directly by filling out the form on the bottom of this page and they will assist you via email.

Again, I strongly urge anyone running any 1.x builds of Malwarebytes to upgrade to the latest 3.x version immediately because that old version of Malwarebytes will NOT protect you from the vast majority of threats out there on the web.  Its protection was designed to address the threats from several years ago and it is not equipped to detect or deal with the threats that are out there today like nasty exploits and ransomware.
