Malware Bytes seems to have deleted my backup software

Recommended Posts

I came in this morning and found a plist file related to my cloud backup software in quarantine. I searched and the application for my backup software is gone, and hasn't backed up in a couple of weeks. How do I get it back?

Mac OS Mojave 10.4.4

Malware Bytes trial version 3.8.16

Backup software: JustCloud

I've used it for years with no trouble.

Deleting my backup program without telling me is not good or helpful. I would've been really ticked if I had needed to recover data and discovered too late that you had deleted my backup program. This is not trustworthy behavior, so I have uninstalled Malware Bytes.

Thanks,

Matt

Personally, I would be more worried that the backup program might be harvesting privacy data from my backups and using it for some nefarious purposes.

Many people use their systems with malware installed without any issues, too. At least, no issues they can recognize. I'd be cautious about using software from a company using these kinds of techniques for getting their software onto people's computers without their express knowledge and consent.

That's good advice, although I am not aware of them installing the software without consent since it is a paid app.

I am also cautious about programs like Malware Bytes that uninstall important software without asking. It seems that no one else on this forum cares about that, which is fine, but it is important to me that software I install stay installed.

Thanks!
