Updating machine name

just a quick one. If a pc is renamed (say from Desktop_aod246a to <proper_asset_name>)  will the console reflect that eventually, will an asset refresh be needed (trying this now but its currently pending) or will this just not work.

Reason for asking as prior to now we haven't included the endpoint cloud client as part of the sysprepped build because we just ended up with lots of copies of 1 pc showing up inside the console. however after reading this i put together a new build downside is the naming convention

Renaming the PC will not change the name in the console as upon deployment, each endpoint gets a unique identifier that is not changed.  As you are seeing, without completing the steps for sysprep, your endpoints will show up under the same Hostname.  To get these endpoints to show up correctly, you will indeed want to follow the Sysprep instructions located within the document you linked, see below.
