Scan running for over 218 hours... on Windows 10 PC

Recommended Posts

I have my Malwarebytes set up to run a quick scan daily and a full, in depth scan weekly on Windows 10 PC.  This is the first time (in over 2 years) that I received an error in my security center telling me to open Malwarebytes.  When I did, I found that my in depth scan has been running for over 9 days!  Scanned items is at 344,779+ and time is 218:14:45.  Anyone know how to fix this??  Thanks!

Greetings and welcome,

I'm sorry that the software is misbehaving but hopefully we can get the issue corrected for you promptly.

To start, please do the following so that we may investigate the root cause of the issue:

  1. Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
  3. Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

Once that's done, go ahead and restart your system and then launch a Custom scan just like the one you have scheduled to see if it gets hung up.  If it doesn't then I wouldn't worry about it, it was probably just some random issue that caused the scan to get stuck, but if it does continue to get hung up please let us know and we'll proceed with further troubleshooting steps.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks

So, I downloaded the tool, gathered the logs and restarted my PC.  I was able to run the Custom, In-depth, scan in about 7 hrs.  THANK YOU!!
